APPEAL TO COMPLETE THE CHURCH!

As you may know, last year we decided to complete just the bare minimum of work which would enable us to bring our place of worship back into use. The key items we needed were: a watertight building, heating and new floor, lighting, electrical system, and a basic sound and loop system. We didn’t have the money in place for all of these items, but knew that no internal work could be done until the building was weatherproof.

The roof works were put in hand and were complete during the summer of 2010.

Since then £100,000 has been raised to complete these basic works in the Place of Worship. In August 2011 we are about to place a contract with local builder Davis Developments Ltd. and Wood Mechanical Services Ltd. to begin the work on the Place of Worship and install underfloor heating and carry out the re-wiring.

Chairs, and a other essential items, will still remain to be financed.

We have asked Mel Howse Vitreous Artist from Chichester to develop a design for a new font for the Church and we hope to have designs available for approval in the early autumn. At the same time we are considering the style of new chairs we shall have and the specification of the sound system that will be installed in due course.

We also need to create a corridor to link the Church to the St. Cuthbert’s Centre but this will be financed by the St. Cuthbert’s Trust. Finally, a new entrance is to be built, but it is hoped that this can be paid for by grants.

COMPLETING THE PLACE OF WORSHIP IN 2011 IS A MAJOR CHALLENGE, BUT IF WE WORK TOGETHER WITH GOD IT IS WELL WITHIN OUR GRASP!
