ST CUTHBERT’S CHURCH BUILDING PROJECTPlease support our ‘Buy a Chair’ Appeal
We’re nearly there! After a long and sometimes difficult struggle, the place of worship at St. Cuthbert’s, Copnor, is opening its doors once again!
As you may know, the church was last used for worship in November 2003, although Sunday services have continued elsewhere during the last eight years.
With many others, the faithful congregation has worked hard and given generously to get the St. Cuthbert’s Project to this point: THANK YOU to all who have played their part.
To re-open the place of worship we have:
- repaired the leaking roof
- installed new heating, lighting and electrics
- laid a new tiled floor
- and will shortly install a new public address and loop system.
So, we will be dry, warm and able to see and hear. But we won’t have anything to sit on!
SO WE NEED TO BUY SOME CHAIRS!
The new place of worship is an open, flexible space in which a wide range of events can be held. We need a chair which is comfortable and enables us to take full advantage of the flexibility for arranging the chairs in a variety of ways.
Following much discussion the Parochial Church Council (PCC) have now chosen a more affordable; lightweight, upholstered chair in a stacking skid base style which has been approved by the Archdeacon on behalf of the Diocesan Advisory Committee.
The chair is called the Alpha SBM2 with “Wine” coloured upholstery. We believe the chairs are exceptional value for money at £50 each.
Why did we choose these chairs? Because they’re:
• comfortable
• easy to move
• hard wearing
• stackable (up to 25 chairs stacked on a trolley)
• able to be linked into rows.
BUT – we’ve spent almost all our funds on refurbishing the place of worship.
WOULD YOU LIKE TO HELP!
As a friend of St. Cuthbert’s, please consider buying a chair to help furnish the new place of worship. If you can’t afford to buy one by yourself, would you like to make a donation towards the cost of a chair?
The name of every donor will be recorded in the St. Cuthbert’s Book of Gifts as will the name of anyone in whose memory a chair has been donated.
If you would like to help furnish the church so that it can provide for all who will use it in the years to come; contact the Rev. David Power.

THANK YOU.
