LENT GROUPS
This year we are doing a Lent Course written by Bishop Christopher and Dean David Brindley. It is based on the Gospel readings for the Sundays of Lent and is set out as a series of brief biblical reflections, followed by starters for discussion.
We are trying to have different groups on different days and times so that as many people can participate as possible. One group will meet on Monday evenings and another on Thursday mornings.
Can you host a group on another day? Please let Carol know! The course is free. Also, let me know the days and times which are best for you. We will begin the groups the week beginning Monday 27th February.
LENT LUNCHES
Once again we are supporting St.Anne's Hospital in Luili as our Lent appeal and will be holding simple lunches on Saturdays throughout Lent, beginning on February 25th at 116 Hayling Avenue, the home of Val & Mal Clubley. Please come and join us between 12 noon and 1.30 pm for soup and a natter so that we are able to boost our donation to this very worthy cause. Any offers of soup would be gratefully received, please see me or Tel: 9282 9259 so that I can add you to my list of contributors.
Looking forward to seeing you. Val Clubley.
ST CUTHBERT'S HELPING HANDS is having an evening for new volunteers on Thursday 1st March at Karolyn Dixon's house, 175 Hayling Avenue at 7.30pm. Have you ever wondered what being a volunteer for Helping Hands involved? This is the time to come and find out. If you decide to go ahead then we will talk about how it all works, give you a little interview, fill in forms for CRB checks and take your photo for an ID badge. We can, of course, just give you the info for you to think about. Helping Hands has done nearly 500 jobs for people in our area. Little things can and do make all the difference to our clients. Come and help us - we need you. Talk to Karolyn 92730612, Anne 92828612 or Beryl on the ‘Helping Hands’ phone 07751293296 or just turn up on March 1st.
HAVE YOU NOTICED SOMEONE MISSING AT THE SUNDAY SERVICE? Have you heard about someone who is unwell? Don't do nothing - take a notes and news to them (or ask someone who lives near them to) let the clergy, churchwardens or a member of the Pastoral Care Team (Margaret Butcher 92340354) know and they will arrange a phone call, visit or Home Communion. Looking out for each other is the responsibility of us all and it may be you in need one day. Let's look after each other in love.
